Silene uniflora compacta Double Bladder Campion This is one great perennial for borders! This plant has pleasant soft gray foliage that comes alive in spring with nickel-sized soft pink saucer-like flowers. Very showy! Excellent under-story plant for shrubs, trees or tall perennials. It is tough and durable perennial for spots that need to be showy, don't have a lot of foot traffic, but tend to be neglected. This plant needs excellent drainage to be content. Shear back blooms to keep tidy.

Tips from Fran
Silene maritima Compacta was put into the program after testing it at my nursery in the landscape. We put it in a totally dry spot, under holly trees where it was habitually walked through, raked over and never watered. And yet…it still bloomed like crazy and looked great. Definitely a winner in my book. Plus the blooms are cool!
